Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi & Opera
These are all Chromium browsers, so the steps are nearly identical. You have two options: the manual method (works today) and the Neuji extension (coming soon).
Manual method — works today
This is the most reliable way, and it needs nothing extra.
Chrome
- Open Settings → Search engine → Manage search engines and site search (or paste
chrome://settings/searchEnginesinto the address bar). - Next to Site search, click Add.
- Fill in:
- Search engine —
Neuji - Shortcut —
neuji(a keyword you can type to search Neuji on demand) - URL with %s in place of query —
https://neuji.com/search?q=%s(UK:https://neuji.co.uk/search?q=%s)
- Search engine —
- Click Add, then open the ⋮ menu next to Neuji and choose Make default.
Edge
- Go to
edge://settings/searchEngines(Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Address bar and search → Manage search engines). - Click Add, then enter:
- Search engine —
Neuji - Shortcut —
neuji - URL with %s in place of query —
https://neuji.com/search?q=%s
- Search engine —
- Click Add, then ⋯ → Make default next to Neuji.
Brave, Vivaldi & Opera
The same idea, with slightly different menus:
- Brave —
brave://settings/searchEngines→ Add → set the URL tohttps://neuji.com/search?q=%s→ Make default. - Vivaldi — Settings → Search → Add a new engine with Nickname
neujiand URLhttps://neuji.com/search?q=%s, then tick Set as Default Search. - Opera — Settings → Search engine → Manage search engines → Add with URL
https://neuji.com/search?q=%s, then Make default.
Neuji extension — coming soon
The Neuji Search extension registers Neuji (with private suggestions) and offers to make it your default engine in one click — no manual URL entry.
Once published:
- Open the listing above and click Add to Chrome (the button is labeled for your browser).
- Confirm the prompt to add the extension.
- On Windows and macOS the extension can set Neuji as your default engine directly; approve the change when the browser asks. (On Linux, Chromium does not let an extension change the default engine — use the manual method above; the extension still adds Neuji to the list for one-click selection.)
Until the store listing is live, use the manual method above — it achieves exactly the same result.
